A process to Procure, silly. |

a Procurement process is the process a company or organization has of buying something. Sellers are most often interested in this process, as it can include timeframes throughout the year for budgeting, methods they use for negotiation, and formalities and registration processes to become an approved supplier. |

Procurement is the process of getting something. It could be anything. |

To procure is to obtain or get something, so a procurement process is the process or procedure you follow to get an item. ie: complete a requistion form; submit it for approval; issue a purchase order; call in an order; etc. etc. |

It usually would be the set of guidelines your company uses to buy anything. Would entail selecting vendors, soliciting quotes for the items, comparing quotes to be sure they meet your specifications, selecting the best price from the most reliable vendor.
Hope that helps. |

I'm unclear as to whether you are asking to have defined what Procurement Process means, or the specific procedures involved.
As a Procurement Specialist for several years, from my experience Procurement Process(es) are related to the steps in which a purchase is expected to be made (I take it this is relating to a Company/Government etc, or a Business course at a basic level).
Procurement process(es) relate to the steps involved being spelled out i.e. Obtain Procurement (Purchase) Order from office A. Ensure signatures as required are present. Review P.O. to ensure accuracy of order. If further paperwork is required prior to purchasing items, prepare as required. Contact/visit suppliers and place order(s) ensuring product(s) are as required. Provide P.O. number or copy of P.O. to supplier. Await order to be received. Verify quantity, quality and that P.O. number matches requisition on file. Forward product to ordering office and P.O. copy with Invoice if received, to paying office. Retain copy of PO and Shipping receipt for files. End of Process.
Either way, it simply means the steps you take to order supplies, products or items from other Companies or suppliers and usually you don't pay for the goods until they are received. At that time invoicing is usually done and you have 30 days to pay before interest is added to the amount the Company wants from you. It's actually a very simple process except where you must investigate numerous Suppliers to receive the best price or locate an actual item that might be difficult to find. Overall, purcasing processes are "fun" because you get to spend someone elses money...
Hope this helps somewhat. |
