I just got my home phone hooked up on monday. Since then I have had HSBC bank call me at least 14 times looking for someone named Holly. I have told them that there is no Holly that it is my new # and to never call again. I have went into detail with them about when I got my phone hooked up, My name and my phone provider. I have had it, what do I do if they keep calling? |

The next time they call, tell them "hold on, I'm going to record this conversation" (even if you aren't) and then say "ok, now, can I get your name and position and who you work for?" (write the name and information down), then proceed to tell them (once again) that Holly does not own that phone number anymore, verify the number that they are trying to reach, and then tell them that if they continue to call you, that you will contact a lawyer to have them sued for harassment.
Typically, this works. If it doesn't, then go through with the threat and get a lawyer. |

Ask to speak to someone higher up and explain the situation, if that doesn't work, change your number. Or you can just call them everyday and tell them Holly is not at that number. |

Try speaking to a manager, make sure they know for sure that you are not the person they are trying to contact. If need be, try going to a regional office and speaking to a manager in person to get removed from the calling list. You should have been placed on a ceased call list after confirming that the individual doesn't use that number. There's no reason you should have to change your number because of someone else's bill collectors. |

Report them to the do not call bureau. Or next time they call ask the person to remove you. Then ask what their name is and their extension at work. Also ask for their home phone number. When they ask you why, tell them you are going to call them 10 times a day, everyday until they leave you alone. |

I have had to explain to each and everyone of them that its the wrong number blah blah blah... they have to stop calling you after you tell them. Just make sure you have them remove your number from their files and get their contact info! |

Ask to speak to a supervisor. If that doesn't work, threaten to take legal action. They kept harassing my mom in error. She did that & it actually worked.
Over at clarkhoward.com, he suggests sending the collection agency a letter, telling them to stop calling you.
Sample "Drop Dead" Letter:

I have been contacted by your company about a debt you allege I owe. I am instructing you not to contact me further in connection with this debt. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a federal law, you may not contact me further once I have notified you not to do so.

If you go w/this letter, you probably want to include that you are not the person they are seeking & that you have no outstanding debt w/them. |
