triple a | Phone interview caught me? |
Well just had a phone interview at 9:30Pm EST.. completely caught me off guard. A guy from a retail company calls me, first I don't recognize the number but I answer it anyway.. he has a strong accent so I'm thinking it's a damn telemarketer.. he asks if "A" is there and I go, "No, who's calling?" And he tells me the company and I go, "oh, hang on.." So I play it off like it was a friend, and we didn't recognize the number (all weird area code numbers have been calling) but I didn't tell him that so hopefully he was "fooled" or something, lol. It just completely caught me off guard. I answered his questions and there was only 2 qualifications that I didn't meet but it wasn't a big deal. He said he will forward this information to Human Resources and they will match my interview answers to other peoples. He said there was no other interview needed.
Anyone ever have an interview like this before? What should I expect next? |

Something similar happened to me about 8 years ago. Woman was chit-chatty on the phone, asking and talking about family, etc. I got suspicious after a few minutes of this; her Q's were becoming more pointed.
She did introduce herself at the start - Director of the foundation where I applied - and at the end of the conversation she halfheartedly set up an interview time. She called the next morning with some feeble excuse for me not to come in.
Sparks flew from my computer with the letter I wrote, about the illegality of her questions and her sneaky attempt to ascertain what she (mistakenly) thought was my lifestyle. |

I have never heard of someone interviewing you over the phone, they usually call you and set up a time for you to come to them and interview. |

ok, please tell me you didn't give him any personal info, address, or credit card number, bank pin??!! it seems "Telemarketers" are the new way to scam now a days, so as long as you didn't give him any info like that you should be fine. |

I have had an interview over the phone and now work for the company (ATT). However normally when they call it is not 930 pm. Sounds extremely fishy to me as well but they do interviews over the phone now. Did you apply online. Was it a legit company? Best of luck to you. |
