There is a need, but the PO is in bad shape and is in need of modernising, and I don't mean with these stupid letter sizes, that's just bollocks. I think the unions have just had it cushy for too long. OK, perhaps some of the changes were not thought through properly, but I'm a firm believer in getting paid only for the hours one works.
More postal strikes on Monday won't do them any favours. I agree with Tony Benn, the PO should be a state-run public service and not allowed to strike. People can always get a job elsewhere if they don't like the conditions, especially now that the PO has competition. |

People have still gotta deliver small packets and christmas/birthday cards.
Dhl are great for big stuff but I'm not paying 20 quid just have a jiffy bag or a postcard sent 100 miles |

That, matey, is their problem. How to compete and take their workforce (or half of them) with them? |

Personally I think it is on its way out. Long before the strike I was unhappy with the service, letters going missing and having to pay almost a tenner just to guarantee delivery? sorry but that's not on. I only use the Royal Mail now when I have absolutely no other choice and although I don't like to see people lose their jobs, this cause is not justified..... Sometimes it's better to stay quiet and enjoy while it's good but for some they always want more....... |

Well I got my parcel off eBay today. Gotta send a parcel to the US tomorrow, I just hope it gets out of the country before the strike starts again.
How much you reckon DHL charges for an A4 then? |

I have about 2000 unopened letters in this room, which date back the past 5 years - one day I'll sort them out. I open the important ones like tax and bills...but not ones which are junk mail or low-important looking stuff.... and gradually the unopened pile built up and are now in boxes.
It would be so much easier if I could get all correspondence online. I'm trying to move much of my stuff (utilites like BT), banking, ect online - cause I'm SICK TO DEATH OF PAPER. |

we need a postal SERVICE! Will I get a refund on the stamps I have paid for which are now not going to be delivered on time? no, I dont think htis is fair. I paid ££s for first class and I get less then second class service.
We need a post service whihc actually does the job- and post that arrives BEFORE 2pm!! |

Email/internet is used for documents and anything else is normally sent by private delivery companies...
Having any post i send via Royal Mail with money in it disappearing or standard sized cards not showing up because the 1st class stamp was 1p short of what was required are things i can live without.
I can set my email to block out junk mail, but can i get Royal Mail to stop posting junk mail? Apparently not. |
