did you use recorded or special delivery /if so there is a compensation scheme
if ordinary post , you had the option of a receipt as proof of posting ,did you ask for this
if not your responsibilty im afraid
think you will have to refund the money you received |

just trying to make a difference

no, not exactly. but i have had parcels taken to neighbours houses for them to sign (while i was out), the delivery companies usually post a card through the door to tell me though. and it's usually DHL, parcel force or parcel net, rather than royal mail.
if you paid for recorded delivery you can find out by phoning the number on the receipt you got to see if it was signed for etc... surely that means that you have proof you sent it and it was delivered - case closed!?
and don't worry about being taken to court, i'm assuming it's the county court. just read though the papers and submit your defence, with evidence that you did post the item (and evidence that i was signed for at the other end) county court judges are quite reasonable, and if you attend the hearing it'll be really informal and you can chat with the judge to give your side - if you don't feel confident about going then opt for a paper hearing.
good luck with it all |

Hi. I'm sure you've followed this all up with the Royal Mail but if by chance you haven't then see link below. It would seem to me that if you sent something recorded delivery and it was delivered with no signature you have a strong case for compensation. Even the standard parcels service says there's compensation for damaged or lost goods, with proof of posting which it sounds as if you have.
Good luck, it must feel horrible to be in this position. |

Problems with Royal Mail. "YES" It would be easier to ask who hasn't had problems with Royal Mail. The service is p*ss poor and internal corruption (theft) is rife. I have seen my postman stand outside my house, and stuff envolopes in his pockets, why when he has a bag??? I leave it to your own imagination. It also seems Royal Mails policy to hire dyslexics. |

If it was recorded it's insured up to ten times the stamp value |

Every time I receive I parcel or package through the post which is signed for/recorded delivery my postman never ever asks me to sign for it. He always just says not to worry!
He has even on several occasions left parcels at my neighbours 3 doors away who I do not know without asking them to sign.
Good Luck with your case |

I'm in Ireland and I have. It can happen.
Good luck with your case and I hope you find the evidence you need to win your case. Just the fact they don't have your sig. should be enough. |
