The one reason is that people are stealing. This includes, but is not limited too:
1) Many companies gave our jobs away to other countries.
2) We have outsourced our manufacturing to China and other countries (that is also killing babies and pets).
3) Many companies have bosses that are running businesses poorly. Since they get paid millions of dollars either way, they send jobs and manufacturing to other countries. HP, Compaq, Chase, and today even Pfizer. Do not do business with any of them if you want a better economy)
4) Politics. Alaska is a great example of political corruption.
5) Much more, too much for me to think of.
But if you put it all in a blender and mix it up, one American is stealing from another. I once believed that South and Central America were the most corrupt countries in the Americas. I no longer believe that. |

Emus, chinchillas, and Beanie Babies; what do these things have in common? They were all investing fads. Everybody wanted to buy them because they were thought to be good investments. Those that did found out they weren't. What makes a good investment is long term return. The stock market has been going to the same phenomenon, everything was overpriced. Now prices are coming down were they should be. |

the reason behind the american stock fall is so complicated and lengthy it would be hard to fit all the reasons on even ten pages.
so i'll give the simplest reason
all stock markets are interconnected so when one stock market has a fall every other stock market has a fall as well.
so the reason for the american stock fall is probably the stock fall in asia back in 2006 when loads of manufacturing companies closed down making the stock fall in asia.
so there is less manufacturing available so less money and stock falls elsewhere. |

The reasoning was because of the sub prime mortgages. They default, the banks have to write off the loans which becomes a loss. Bad numbers(unemployment, retail sales, etc....) is also dragging this market down. |

2 words. Barack Obama.
The promise of him raising the capital gains tax to 45% is pushing investors away from the stock market.
if you invest $20 (example reasons only...) and your stock at the end of the year is worth $30, the tax is 45%, so you pay $13.50 in tax, so you LOST money on your stock. That makes it pointless to invest. |
