Relatively few major corporations and manufacturing plants choose to operate in Kerala. Why is this?

Manoj R
Kerala may be run by communists and there may be labor problems but keeping away ugly & polluting manufacturing companies has preserved its natural beauty and made it a top tourist destination of India. The service sector is making inroads into Kerala and as India slowly becomes a tertiary economy (service sector) that is what will matter in the long run.

Bcoz Keralites don't allow such units to thrive in Kerala.Hundreds of norms and regulations are laid down by the government and other political parties for the opening and running of such units and once they are opened, there are hundreds of hurdles in the form of labour unions, land problems etc. Also, the workers go on strike for each and every silly reason and government and other political parties interfere too much in the working of such units. They don't realise tht such units help in economic progess of the state and also provide employment. As a result, many corporations hav faced losses and lock-outs of their units.Hence, they don't prefer setting up factories in Kerala as compared to other states.
