When Sam died, a lot of the best things about Wal-Mart went by the wayside. |

I used to work for wal-mart and their benefits are the worst I have ever seen . they have a high turnover so people can't get their benefits and it takes a year just to get prescription benefits that's obscene I will not shop at wal-mart because of the exploitation of their employees. I won't even go to what they do to stores that try to unionize. |

People quickly realized that although the company is American owned all of the products are cheap imports. |

The jobs that American laborers had were outsourced. |

They buy Chinese and third world products where cheap labor is exploited. That's how they're able to "pass on the savings to the customer".
Wal-Mart just exploits cheap (questionably legal) labor and also tries to employ a staff of part-time workers so they don't have high cost benefits and other cost cutting measures.
I don't shop there and don't support their retailing philosophy.
American made products couldn't be found for their cheap-low buying offers of purchase.
60 minutes did a good expose of this company that should've enlightened many of their shoppers.
I'm sorry for being so negative but this subject just touched off a nerve of mine. |

Wal-Mart found out it's easlier to buy cheap stuff from China.
Once everything is made in China who's left to shop at Wal-Mart? |

Wal*Mart discovered that Americans would rather buy something cheap from China than an American product. They have pushed their suppliers every year, demanding lower and lower prices, so that they could roll-back the prices in the stores.
Eventually, companies had to choose between losing their Wal*Mart business (and probably going out of business), or moving production to low-cost countries like China. Fortunately for Wal*Mart, they soon realized that the average American consumer could care less if a product is "Made in America" anymore.
So, in my opinion, the management of Wal*Mart in their unending greed to destroy competition and grow, forced American firms into outsourcing in China. Of course, their stupidity is now starting to show, because they couldn't stop there. They keep pushing for price cuts until now we get nothing but cheap garbage at Wal*Mart.
Wal*Mart is now on the decline. It's about time, and good riddance for all the damage they did to American manufacturing. |
