Right then! We have 10,000 pieces of luggage missing or stolen......?
in UK Airports; some child manages to board a jet with no boarding pass or passport; another jet is forced to land at Boston in the States because some woman became claustrophobic (I wonder why - cattle class perhaps?); and produces some matches and face cream and is arrested for it; and finally the BAA and the police in England are lambasting each other as to who should take responsibility for the increased security costs needed to pay for this and presumably future terrorist acts !

An aircraft is a pressurised metal tube separated by two wings full of highly flammable fuel; and if for whatever reason, however unlikely, it is compromised somehow, be it by accident or sabotage - it is, as it has ALWAYS BEEN - an extremely vunerable not to mention uncomfortable piece of technology, which you have very little chance of surviving if there is a fire, crash or it depressurises. My question is simply, when are we going to make these aircraft more secure than the airports to get to them !

What I don't understand is the fighter jet escort on the Boston Flight. If a terrorist is going to blow up a plane, I don't see how two jets can help, other than possibly raise the death count by two and add more fuel to explode.

A serious shake up needs to happen, but who knows when it will get done!

When they figure out how to make aircraft that can fly transoceanic routes with fuselage and wings made using reinforced concrete.

Until the, perhaps you should not be flying.

It is really frustrating. I could not believe the story about the child getting on the plane with no ticket. How does this happen?? It really seems like everyone is doing nothing. I guess it would be up to Boeing or Airbus to make a more secure plane.
