While shopping at Safeway today, the bakery employee told me I couldn't have a cookie samples because of the corporate decision to limit samples to very young kids. However, I shop there all the time, and buy almost all of my groceries there. So shouldn't I be entitled to a cookie? I told them I would shop elsewhere, that their decision was wrong. Samples in stores SELL THEIR PRODUCTS. Costco, Top Food, Fred Meyer, Albertson's and QFC offer samples in an attempt to lure consumer to buy their products. I strongly feel that Safeway's decision was wrong, and I let them know how I felt. Also, to only give cookie samples to very young children is a risky decision, many kids are not able to remember they have allergies and what they are.
So who do you think it right? Me or Safeway?

I agree you are right as in retail business customer is always right.
Also they should not have such policy and if you shop there regularly they should provide a sample and also it would not cost them too much or affects their profits. If you like the sample you may buy more but may be some Jackass in store came up with the idea if the sampling is restricted to only kids you would be forced to buy as all kids like cookies and candies after sample they will cry and you have no other option but to buy it. Where as adult the chances of buying is restricted as not everyone likes or buy cookies. |

thats not safeway policy the bakery employee was either lying or not paying attention to training and policy because safeway employees are required to offer or allow samples so long as its reasonable like obviously you cant sample wine or beer or medicine raw meat etc. However if you want a sample to make sure somethings fresh/to your liking/tastes good etc. you are allowed samples (with an employees okay wich they are supposed to give barring extreme circumstances such as cited examples |
