Shady HR dept or legit excuse? PLEASE help me?
So i interviewed with this company exactly 3 weeks ago. I hit it off with all 5 of the people I met and I everything looked awesome. They said they would get back to me that same week. They didn't. So I send a thank you email to my recruiter , No response.

So then I called my main recruiter person and left a message (no response). Then, that same week I get a hold of her and she says the Top exec is out on business for a month and that she will try to reach him and call me back the next day. She didn't. So I wait a week and call back...you guessed it, nothing.

So I email the Top exec who is back from business after a month(who I hit it off with very well in the interview) and he gets back to me and says *the recruiter* is out for a month now and he will tell her to contact me when she gets back.

Seriously tho, WTF?!?

Is it because it is a huge corporation? A inept HR dept? Why can't they just give me a straight "yes' or "no' answer about the job?

To be honest most big companies make decisions very slowly. The other thing that they do is stall for time. For example, they may have offered the job to somebody else, and they don't want to tell you that because they have you as the second choice should the other person not accept. I would just stay as patient as you can and follow up periodically. If you do you just might get it. Keep interviewing to keep your options coming. If you receive another offer and you'd like this job better, let them know of your offer and give them a chance to speed things up. Good Luck!

Employers have this funny logic where they think its nicer to string someone along for months until they finally give up rather than just telling them "No, we're not hireing you, good luck finding a job elsewhere"

They care more about not hurting your feelings than about giving you an honest answer so that you can move on.

I'd do 2 things if I were you. 1st, keep looking for other jobs.
2nd, keep calling this place back until they give you a straight answer, you might not improve your odds of getting a job but at least you can be a thorn in their side as revenge for them stringing you along for so long.

Larger companies take longer at times. I have friends that have interviewed and got the jobs but took 3-6 months for some. I am actualy waiting myself and its been 2 months. If you interviewed you should recieve a letter at least saying you wernt hired.

Where is this job? I would like to be a recruiter there and be able to take a month off at a time!!!

Sounds like they're liars.

They might be doing a background check on you. Depending on the company that could be extensive. It's generally hard to get "straight" answers from any corporation. There is a LOT of red tape involved.
Or, maybe its just not "meant to be".
Sorry, sounds frustrating!!

First, EVERYONE thinks they hit it off with the interviewer. Interviewers generally ty to keep things friendly.

Second, they are probably looking at other candidates, but don't want to tell you in case they can't find anyone better (but they are probably hoping to).

Quite possibly they are still interviewing applicants and do not want to commit. They are keeping you on the hook because they liked you but think maybe they will miss someone better if they don't see a few more. I worked for a company like that and cannot tell you how many excellent potential employees got away because some SUIT could not commit. By the time the big boss made a decision the good ones were already working somewhere else. Needless to say we ended up with the bottom of the list. The SUIT decided it was the HR person's fault. What a Joke
