Making a good profit is fair but when they make bigger profits because oil is in 'short supply' largely as a result of their own limitations, that's proof that they are abusing their all but monopolistic position - NOT proof they are good efficient companies.
Governments need to consider whether they can be better controlled.
So I'm more angry than sick. |

shell are a British (and dutch) company, contributing massively to the British economy and employing thousands of people in Britain and already page massive tax (maybe not in % terms but its still a lot). if the governemnt starts taxing multi nationals heavily, they move thier HQ's from the UK and we loose out even more, just think of all the british based multi nationals :Shell, BP, HSBC, Vodafone etc etc . Capitalism aint great buts its the best we've got. |

Why should it? Shell directly employ 10,000's of people all over the world. Indirectly they are responsible for the jobs of 100's of thousands, possibly millions. Companies like Shell supply energy solutions. What would you run your car on if you had no petrol? What would power stations burn to make electricity if they had no natural gas? The success of Shell and companies like them means they give employment to an ever increasing number of people, they invest billions in research for new energy products. Without these companies we would be in the dark ages. So no I don't mind a bit and I hope they continue to be successful. And by the way if your complaint is centred around the cost of petrol, be aware that more than 90% of the cost of petrol in Britain comes from taxation by the government. |

yes it does given that the cheepest petrol near me is 1.06.9 i think that any petrol company making that type of money should be made to drop their price's and give a percentage to a home charity |
