Should I go back to Old Navy?
I worked for Old Navy from 2003 to 2006, and only quit so i could take a year off to finish college. now it is a year later, and after realizing that im still not quite sure what i want to do with my life, i started working retail again, but instead of going back to Old Navy, i just started working as a Guest Services Associate at Target. it's been ok, but now that i have my feet wet in retail again, im starting to miss Old Navy. i worked my way up to a Casheir Lead very quickly with them, and it was my fav job. i would have to change store locations, but that's not a problem. ive only been with Target for a few days and would just feel bad about moving to another company so quickly. also, i might get paid less at Old Navy starting out, but as i said, i moved up very quickly (in position AND pay). i don't think Target does 90 day evalutations. hmmm, what to do?
Additional Details
oh yeah... in i think 2005 when i worked at Old Navy, i quit for a little bit then came back as seasonal help and decided to stay again, but when i came back they cut my pay down to my starting pay ( so i went from $7 or $8 to $5.50). was that a fair deal? i still worked up again, but it just stunk to have to go back to square one.

Before you quit at Target, re-apply at O.N. Perhaps contact a manager at your old store (if you still know who works there), and explain to them you were thinking of coming back, but at another location, and maybe they can put a call in to the other store and bring your app. to the top of the pile. If you're called back for an interview, you can tell the manager at the new store about your experiences when you worked at O.N. before. A cashier lead/cash handler experience should put you ahead of other applicants.

As far as pay, tell them how much you'd like to make, and ask about the opportunities for cash handler positions and raises at this store. If you think you'd be happier at O.N. even though it pays less, then go for it. If you're looking to make retail your career, you might as well start out where you're happy and work your way up. If you're just working there for the heck of it, until you get a job using your degree, then it probably doesnt matter too much.

Of course, this is a question that, ultimately, only you can answer. But from what you wrote, the answer seems pretty clear to me. Other than loyalty to Target, there is no reason in your question to cause you to stay. Since you have only worked there a few days, I don't think loyalty should be an issue. They have not made a big investment in you yet, and your leaving should not be a big deal.

One other consideration though, is you may want to learn more about Target's policies before you leave. Don't leave based on what you think their policies are.

If you going to do it, apply now because they will just shrug thier shoulders and go "ok" because they can easily keep going after a new person

if you leave after a week if you leave after 9 months then they will be unhappy
