CEOs are usually paid in stock, not salary anyway, so their pay doesn't really affect the average worker that much. You might argue it down a little, but Semel has been doing a decent job of keeping the company moving forward.
It's basically supply and demand. Not that many people can run a multi-billion dollar corporation and there are quite a few companies that need them. Since it's mostly stock, his own pay is tied to how much value he is giving the shareholders. The system isn't without flaws, but it works relatively well compared to other systems. |

Payinga CEO a high salary is smart. You want to find the best person for that position. They have alot of responsiblilty and the jobs, goods, and services of many people under their care. Anyone of us would take a job with more money if it was a job we liked. Offering a big salary for a job makes it much more likely that you will find many good candidates for that position. |

In my opinion, CEO's are so highly over paid that it should be a crime to legally steal money!!
No one is worth what they are getting paid!
They are in a "social club" with other CEO's and they run amok, just like all those over paid athletes!
A good CEO should not make over 65,000 (even thats a bit exorbitant and inflated rate, but, I can go for that).
I'm sorry, but, if it was my Company, I would not pay those exorbitant salaries to a bunch of "hangers on" when its the "little guys" who do all the work!! THEY NEED THE PAY RAISE, NOT THE CEO'S!!!
