Scottie | Should farmer's inflate the price of milk? |
Since fuel companies raise prices on a gallon of gas in lieu of supply and demand, then shouldn't farmers do the same for a gallon of milk? Hey, they got to transport that milk somehow. And a lot of people want milk. |

They should! Farmers work a lot harder than those oil companies. They deserve it. |

Farmers never get to choose what they get for their milk... it is a govenment decision... the following is an excerpt from Sennsenbrenner...:
Federal dairy pricing has long been an important issue to Wisconsin’s dairy industry. For years, our state has been dealt a bad hand when it comes to the federal government’s milk pricing system, both through the regionally-biased Federal Milk Marketing Orders and, more recently, the dairy cartel known as the Northeast Interstate Dairy Compact.
To combat inequities in the current system, Congress enacted in the 1996 Freedom to Farm Act, a bill calling for market-oriented reform of the government’s milk pricing system. To date, those reforms have not been implemented because of regional partisanship and judicial action. Although the Freedom to Farm Act was intended to help level the dairy playing field, delays in implementing its reforms have caused continuing harm to Wisconsin’s dairy farmers.
Soooo...... pray for those poor farmers.... they need it! |

No, the US government already has inflated milk prices to aid the farmers. Enough already! |

The farmer doesn't have to inflate the price of milk. The federal government does it for them. Ever heard of milk subsidies? |

so milk should be $8 a quart? oversupply is more of a problem for milk producers. price stability is important, plus milk is a staple. do you want to be responsible for denying children milk?
no one does, thats why things are the way they are.
plus its hard to run a tractor on milk. |

As long as you have a free market economy (and not a socialist one like fascist/communists), the price of a product won't exceed the value. It's only when gov't interferes that prices are way out of whack. Farmers will tell you that you can't arbitrarily raise prices. Competetion is the only thing that keeps prices low. |

A dairy farmer along with all other farmers have no control of how much their product is sold for nor do they have any control over how much they are paid for their product. |
