Should stores let people take extra plastic bags as a courtesy?
I like to use them as trash bags but a Walmart exit door employee refused to let me take some extras. I asked if I could buy them but Walmart doesn't sell them.
Should I return the CD/DVD unit that I bought from Walmart, since the store wouldn't let me take a few plastic bags?
if you feel very badly about not being able to get extra bags then go for it, return the product. but you know that everyone is into "recycling" and lots of stores encourage customers to minimize the use of plastic bags or to return used plastic bags.

Well, I know some stores do charge for bags. A few cents..
It's up to them wether or not they want to give you extras.
I can see a place like Walmart penny pinching like that.
I think returning something is a bit extreme. But it's your call.

~~They have to buy them so I can understand why they can't give them away. They are not selling them because it would be a weird sales tax issue. You can purchase small, medium, or large bags in the store where the household cleaning supplies are sold. Costco sells the same type of bags you are referring to (by the case).
We are not going to have these bag available to us soon anyway because of the environmental problems they cause. It would be better to switch to something else anyway.~~

Bags are an expense.
Next time you buy more than one thing from WalMart, have each item individually bagged. That way you'll get extra bags.

No. In fact you are going to see stores shortly not providing plastic bags anymore. They will sell you cloth reusable bags to use. This is already in approval at a major chain in the mid-west. They are expensive and environmentally not the best solution.

Maybe you could ask if you can have some of the bags from the box of returned bags at the front.

No they shouldnt have to give you bags
they already gave you the ones you needed for your items
they paid for those plastic bags they cant just give them away to everybody, plus they still did give you some bags
they give you the bags so you can carry your items out
Its not their job to care about your trash.
