pathfinder | Should we boycott Cinema's? |
They throw out viewers for bringing their own snacks rather then buying their overpriced inhouse sold snacks and drinks.
We go to see a movie, not get ripped off.
http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/19022008/5/cinema-s-sweet-eating-policy-sucks-0.html
After reading this story, I will now wait a few months for the DVD to come out. |

I can`t understand why people buy sweets from cheap places like supermarkets/newspaper shops etc.
Rather than paying over the odd /extortionate prices such as cinemas.
Surely being overpriced at the cinema for over priced concessions is all part of being British.
It makes sense!!!! AND I SHOULD KNOW

I always take my own stuff in (I make sure I have a large handbag and then stock up at the supermarket in advance). If I am expected to buy stuff at the cinema they might like to reduce their stupidly high prices and also make the queues shorter when buying refreshments! |

A friend of mine is a manager here at a major chain cinema in Texas and while they don't search anyone (I dare them to try it...) if they see you with something not from the theater they'll ask you "politely" to dispose of it or leave. When I asked my friend about it he says that the majority of the cinema profits come from the concessions and not from the ticket price. It's the only way they stay in business.
I think a lot of the theaters are sooo overdone (bright lights, 22 screens, etc) that they are overpricing themselves to keep in business. I think there is something really wrong with the business model if that's the only way to keep in business.
Personally, I love movie theater popcorn so I'll usually buy a tub of that, but everything else comes in with me. I've even been known to bring a beer into the movie with me ( I can set it between my boobs with a straw and they are none the wiser in the dark theater :-) )
I don't tell my friend that... |

i always go to an independently run cinema and they never have a problem letting you take your own snacks in they sell snacks like the classic popcorn at a very reasonable price £1 for a big warm bag it's disgusting that people get thrown out of big chain cinemas just because they don't wat to pay £3 for a small tub of popcorn of £5 for a tub of icecream and anything up to £5 for a cup of soda and would rather take their own snacks the cinemas already make enough money out of their over priced tickets the inependent cinema i go to only charges £3 or less a ticket |

haha ! i have 2 small children and we go to the cinema alot, it cost us £20 get in and then for popcorn n drink for them t share another £10 i always take toffee in aswell so if had buy toffeee there it would end up costin me £40 f watch film f 2hrs n wouldnt be worth it they get enough money f tickets let alone out else. it would not be as bad if tickets was reasonablily priced but kids are not much cheaper than a adults. |

Cinemas have been trying to stop us for years, now its been noted. Kids at my local cinema when I was younger always got their sweats confiscated and refused entry to the cinema if they wouldn't, looks like they are stepping up their game. |
