anyone know? | Should we deduct wasted hours lost in 'prayer time', that Muslims use up the during working day? |
Or, can I take 3 x 20min paid-breaks everyday, so I can pray to the 'Poker Gods'?
I am a memeber of the 'Church of Texas Hold 'em' after all.....

Well if it is to be an equal workplace, fairness would demand that you be allowed the same religous rights, no matter what faith you are.
So IMO either the time for their prayers should be deducted, or the other workers should be allowed the same amount of time off |

No, if you want them to respect your rights, you should also do likewise and respect theirs. However, they could pray in the morning before they start to work, during their lunch break and after work. This should minimize any inconvenience and displeasure with regards to these prayers. |

If its a professional job where an employee has the ability to juggle their schedule...allowing someone to pray at times required or to go to mosque on Friday sounds like reasonable accommodation to me to allow someone prayer time who is required by their religion to pray It is good to be respectful of sincere practices like this. it shouldn't be special rights or favoritism but a form of decent respect for others.
If its a tightly timed job, like a mfg job on the clock, the time might be added to the work day or used as break time... thats a tougher one and up to the generocity of the employer but may possibly belong on the employees time. I can see that both ways.
Consideration goes both ways. The Muslims at work often kneel in their offices but with the window to the door open so visible from the hall... I would tend to recommend cover the window so as to not be seen while praying but... thats mainly a preference of mine but I think its a case of respect being a two way street to cover the window and pray privately. Prayer is to the unseen God, not a personal display
My experience is the Christians ,which I am, will have prayer groups or Bible studies sometimes but the ones I knew of were at lunch on their own time, this is not exactly the same since they are not bound to pray at certain times of course Christians go to church pretty much on their own time as well but they generally will get Sunday off where Muslims do not necessarily get Friday off... so its an apples to oranges situation. |

Of course, if you're not pleasing the boss, then you should be fired... however, if they're just as productive as other members of the team, you have the give them the benefit of the doubt an tell them to pray on thier breaks only.
PS: If you're trying to say something about Muslims, you should know that Allah knows that you cannot pray at the moment because you're working, and he's cool with that. |

thats the perks of their religion, if you dont understand it or better yet worship it, then you should get back to work for the almighty dollar so that you may immediately spend it on something this is temporarily satisfying |

If u believe in God,u may be aware of the fact tht due to his kindness only, people like u even has got a chance to work in the so called office.
Try to respect all the religions......coz if a muslim is praying thrice during office time, and u r getting allergic towards it.....it tells us the readers tht u are gone case.
Try to learn something from him.He is saving for his future.Dont forget tht u ve to go a long life thr. |
