Tobias Maximus | Shouldn't the oil companies bail out the auto makers? |
Ford, Chrysler, and GM have all pledged allegiance to the oil companies by making gas guzzling SUVs. They have taken the "we scratch your back, you scratch ours" approach except when it comes to losing profits. Now, they want the tax payers' help so they can stay afloat. I say let the oil companies, whom by the way have made record profits recently, bail out the auto makers....... |

Best idea I have heard yet. Way to show leadership. You should be on Capitol Hill telling them how it all should work, seriously I am not being facetious. None of them seem to know what the hell they're doing and I absolutely DO NOT support a bailout of the automakers; I have never driven a Ford, Chevy or GM car in my life nor will I ever if they stay on the road they're on right now (that's not really fair to say because I probably never will drive one of their cars regardless of what changes they decide to make, I love my Hondas too much). They had the opportunity to figure it out long ago and decided against it, why? BECAUSE THEY'RE GREEDY! |

Amazing idea! I always knew there was some kind of conspiracy going on between the carmarkers and auto industry. I'm sure that automakers could make cars with a lot more gas mileage if they really wanted to. |

Excellent idea!!
But it probably won't happen.
What we as taxpayers should do is to contact our Congressional representatives and tell them NO MORE BAILOUTS! And if they do bail out the fatcat failures, the CEO's and boards should resign, no bonuses, pay cuts for all execs, no perks, no gravy train.
That should keep some of the hogs away from the trough! |

I like it. I always wonder where all the money go's? It's like the lotto here in Florida - almost half of the millions of dollars changing hands weekly supposedly goes to the school system, yet the schools are still saying they are short and need to cut back. The oil companies still say that they don't have the money to pay higher taxes. |

I love the idea...there's just no way to make it happen right now. Once Obama takes office and the tax laws change, in essence, that will be what happens, no? The larger companies will finally pay their fair share of taxes and maybe we citizens won't end-up being stakeholders in the auto industry that we barely purchase from. When you really think about it...none of the US companies have come out with any great hybrids...maybe that's the reason they are struggling, not the current economy. Supply and demand...we demand cars that actually can get us somewhere on one tank of gas and they should supply them! |
