Trust me, they will find the mistake. It may not be for a few months, but they will find it. I would contact the insurance company, notify them of the discrepancy, and ask for them to let you know what they want IN WRITING. Otherwise, if you spend it, they may be demanding it back---when you no longer have it. |

Ethicaly, you should not spend it. It is not yours. If I were you, I would call them immediately and resolve the problem. Just to make sure you are covered I deposit the check, take out my cut of it, and send a check back to them for the remaining balance. You never know, It may take them 3 months to get you another check, this way you are covering your own bases, and giving back whats not yours. |

I was given $900. too much by a bank teller when I cashed a check, I got back in line. Best policy is to give it back, they will track you down eventually and you will feel good about it eventually, like when you explain honesty to your kids someday. |

I would let them know and find out if they want you to tear it up or return it. If you cash and spend it and then they try to get it back from you by suing, will you have it to pay them back? |

contact the company and let them know. if you spend it, they will probably find out what happened and tell you to give it back, which may put you in a bind if it's already gone! besides, it's the honest thing to do. |

They will likely catch the mistake anyway. Let them know now and save yourself the headache later as they may try to file charges... you know how they can be... they don't mind taking your money, but they're not terribly into parting with their own. |
