Mister Bon | Starbucks Coffee!? |
Ok! So I am a huge Starbucks Addict and the other day as i was watching Fox news, They said that Starbucks announce that they will be increasing 9 cents on all there coffee products. This is because the rising price of there dairy products is affecting them.
Now i think that is a little stupid to raise their prices, i mean its already expensive as it is, and making coffee is cheap i think the most expensive bill that comes out of starbucks and any coffee store is water! because they make theie coffee on water not milk!
So just because they are not making that much profit as they use to, they raise prices? Isn't that just stupid? I mean is not that I'm cheap or anything. i would totally agree if they raise the price on their coffee because they'll be paying more to the farmer that produces the beans of coffee!
Because in case you didn't know from my 4.00 dollar coffee the farmer only gets 1 cent!
So i think i might not go to starbucks anymore! What do you think? would you still go? Additional Details Oh God no! I'm not loosing sleep or being cheap!
i'm just saying!
Dunkin Donuts announce that they are not raising prices, nor is Gloria Beans or Seattle's Best! |

its not supply and demand, its not gas prices indirectly affecting dairy.
you know what it is?
it's greedy corporations that need to make boat payments.
they need six more mantions and 22 more rolls royces.
that and they probably have lawyer bills to pay.
they're higher ups' are greedy.
simple as that. |

They are counting on enough of you being hooked so that you'll keep coming back and spending your hard earned cash.
Me, I'm making my coffee at home, chez nous, these days. Wisdom comes with age. |

No, they don't care about you, they care about the $$. 9 cents isnt enough to make everyone stop going there, and if you don't like it, sorry buddy. |

no way. I'm a dunkin fan myself. mocha iced latte-YUM! even their hot coffees, but beacuse of the costs i do not go as much as i used to. for the work week i make half a pot at home, drink a cup, then take the rest to work. weekends we may splurge when we are out. not too often. weekend mornings are reserved for homemade coffee and relaxing in pjs unless we have a benefit ride-like today, umm yesterday.
buying coffee is almost as bad as buying gas and cigarettes. |

hmmmmmmmm! U were right about that, I used to go to starbucks but it doesn't make sense to me how expensive their coffee is. So, I found Panera bread shop, they have a good coffee plus U will even get a bagel with the cream cheese U want and for coffee and bagels with cream cheese U will only spend not even $4.00 dollars but if U go to starbucks coffee almost $3.00 already no bread. And the place is very clean and nice people too. I like the way they built that restaurant it's very cozy! |

Wow, sounds like you drank too much coffee already. Personally, I've only drank Starbucks coffee once, that was only because I was in an airport. I couldn't believe that I got charged 4 or 5 bucks for a cup of regular coffee, but I was desperate. I didn't really see anything special about it, I think the coffee I make at home is better. Are you one of those people that pays like 2 bucks for a quart or whatever of the bottled water? That's really crazy. |

no i wouldnt go, maybe if less people went there due to the raise, they would lower thier prices a bit and get more business! |

The price that Starbucks charges for its coffee -- in fact the price that any business charges for any product -- is completely unrelated to its cost.
This is basic economic theory: the price of any product is determined by only two factors: supply and demand.
Supply refers to how much of that product is available and how many alternatives exist. If there are zillions of coffee houses, then prices will tend to decrease. If no one is selling coffee in a particular location, then the supply shortage will tend to cause an increase in price.
Similarly, if the public demands Starbuck brand of coffee, then prices will tend to increase. But if next winter's new fad is hot chocolate or fruit juice, then Starbucks coffee prices will tend to decrease.
So why did Starbucks blame their price increases on coffee bean shortages (or whatever)? You'll have to ask them, but I suspect the reason is that Starbucks had to say something to justify their increase, so they elected to blame the obvious (but incorrect) culprit, costs of beans, rather than provide the real reason:
Starbucks, like every other business, wants to maximize its long term profit. Starbucks management calculated that its profits will increase if it raises its prices: ergo, they are raised. If Starbucks management concluded that its profits willl increase if it reduces its prices, then they would do so.
Hope this helps. |
