Stay at old job or go to new one?
I was recently offered a position with a multi-national wireless mobile corporation - good salary, benefits and opportunity for growth. However, my current employer, a small 120+ employee communications agency who I've been with for 8 years has decided to counter-offer to keep me. If the offers are comparable, I don't know which way I'll go. Any feedback is welcome.

Smaller companies have always treated me better.
Just my experience.
Good luck.

The are a few big questions that you have to ask yourself.

1) Are you happy at your current job?

2) Is there enough upward mobility at your current job to outweigh starting at the bottom at a new company?

3) Does the new company have opportunity for advancement, or will you be stuck in the starting position?

4) How do the benefits specifically retirement benefits compare? Do they both offer 401k's? Are they matched?

5) All things being equal I personally tend to stay with exsisting jobs, the only real reasons to move to another
job is if your current job makes you unhappy everyday
OR there is more oppotunity for advancement at the new job.

You have a few things to consider. Who has better benefits, do they have retirement plans? Are you happy where you are currently, is there opportunity to move up there?

It is your call. I tend to agree about small companies treating you better. I don't know if a larger one would have worked to keep you..

If you are happy in your current job that makes the decision more difficult. If you move to a multi national company you will be a small fish in a big pond. The fact that your current boss wants to keep you enough to make a counter offer shows that he values you and your prospects with his company are good. But it's not just about the money - there's always the challenge of something new and the excitement of being one of the big players. Good luck whatever you choose!!!!

Go with the job that pays more, in the end, that's what it all comes down to.

Your have a stable employer who appreciates you by making that counter-offer. Its a good place to be in todays workforce.
But if there is no opportunity for growth and that is what you truly desire, Then the larger corporation would be for you, but remember a lot of these companies tell you a lot of things, and before you know it its a couple years later and someone more qualified has been promoted to your desired positon.
Get it in writing or stay where your at. Good Luck
