SweetCountryLily | Success selling Avon? |
Hello,
I'm going back to school full time and I am looking into selling Avon part time. I'm obviously looking for something that is flexible, which selling Avon is, but would it make ends meet? Would anyone suggest selling it? or have any great success stories about selling it? |

avon is tough. you have to have a big client base to make any real money from it, and the commission [after like the first couple of campaigns] is based on how much you sell.. |

No. I sold for 14 months, and hardly ever made a profit. Most of the time I had to pay Avon! They charge you for books about .62 cent each, minimum order of 10, (then other books $1.25-$1.50 per pack of 5, that's about $10 (per campaign), then they charge you a $2.50 per shipment fee, that's $12.50, then they charge you sales tax and an order processing fee which you pass on to the customer. Then, you have to buy bags, and delivery products, which will cost you about $1/mo (depending on sales), so that's $26/mo operating costs per month just to sell it. Then you have to add your gas and expenses for getting the books out and getting the orders, then distributing them. So, you'd have to sell a minimum of $100/mo just to cover costs. The average customer orders $20 (so says Avon), but in actuality, just to make that $100 minimum, you'd have to have 10-12 customers who ordered regularly.
Also, if you make more than $3000 (I think, may be higher) then Avon sends you a 1099 at the end of the year for you to pay taxes on.
I hardly ever made $, don't know anyone who has made $, and wouldn't recommend it. It costs too much $, and you don't get results. I shouldve looked into it more than I did, but now I owe Avon $300 and don't even sell anymore. It's a huge scam really. My District Sales Manager (paid Avon employee) told me that reps "can" earn $50k their 1st year...that's BS. All the people that make $ doing Avon have "downlines" of people who sell. For one person to make $50k they'd have to sell $125k+ per year in products, and at an average of $5 for makeup, $20 for creams, $30 for clothing....that's ALOT of sales. |

How much money are you looking to make? You can make money with Avon. The more brochures you buy the less they cost each and the more potential customers you can reach. You do not have to buy the extra books actually Avon usually sends them to you. You make 50% earnings the first four orders which allows you to establish a customer base. Then it is 20-50% depending on your order size. If you want to turn it into a career leadership would be the way to go. Whichever path you decide there are ways to achieve your goals. Email me and we can discuss how to get you started. |

absolutely!! Some would disagree, but I have done really well with Avon. (i'm only just now on my second campaign)!!
I profited over 300 dollars just this time around... and that was without even really putting much effort forth.
If you know people, just hand out books and follow up, the products really sell themselves! and with the e-rep opportunity, your friends and family out of area can buy direct on your site and you get the profit!
I believe it's fantastic and it's something you can take with you as you move on to other careers. the opportunities really are endless! I hope that you do it, it is fun and fantastic in so many ways!

Really unless you were looking for an extra tank of gas or two, it's not something that can be done on it's own. I've been doing it for awhile, but also have a 45 hour full time job. I make an easy $20 every two weeks selling to some ladies at my church and my sisters. You do have to put some money into it for books and bags every now and then, but at least there's no inventory to carry. |
