I worked at Walmart 8 years ago. The secret was that many of the cameras (back then at least) were props. They also did random security checks in random areas of the store. ALL of which were phony. For my particular store...the security was called #110. He would generally patrol the store with one item in his hand to appear he was shopping. He would always be profiling young people, and particular minorities, and people who dressed 'rough'.
Note:Working for a living, and paying your own way without shoplifting is the honorable way to exist. I am just letting you know their set up in case you feel unlawfully targeted while making your purchases. |

Some are real; some are fake. by the registers are real and the rest are randomly placed. |

You can answer this yourself: consult the crime log for an area near you that has a WalMart in it. They bust everyone they catch stealing, and most of the time they do it with video footage... |

They are. A 7 year old little girl was taken from a local Wal-Mart here where I live, she was found raped, half burned, and choked to death a week later in a dark alley way across town. And it was because of the security cameras that they found the SOB that did it.
The ones in the parking lot are real and so are the ones by the dressing rooms. |

well i know they have people walking around undercover, but ive seen them working on the black orbs, so i'm certain those were real and they were in the middle of the store. |

Yes they are real.
What makes you think that WalMart can't afford a few cameras?
This is a more common phenomenon with small shops. |
