timothy a | Telemarketing IT? |
I currently work for a telemarketing company which serve the top 100 IT companies across Europe. We never phone private residential numbers, only business, which can vary in size from small family, owned business to the top clearance banks. IT is project dependant on what product I am selling or promoting or what seminar I am inviting people too. I can understand that telesales / telemarketing calls can be very annoying. However I have been working for this company for around 3 months and the leads I have generated have converted to sales in excess of £500,000. So I think anyone who says telemarketing is completely useless, is grossly misinformed. If telemarketing / telesales don't work why do some of the top businesses, invest so much money? What does everyone else think? |

Telemarketing work - when it is done well that is. If you simply call random number, your degree of success will be random and most probably seem useless. However I understand that you are working off leads, so the level of success you are experiencing depends on the quality of these leads. The better the research that goes into the leads the greater the chances of success. Telemarketing can be annoying to the customer who has no wish to buy the product, however if the lead has been well research the customer should have some need for the product, even if it is just a latent need. Hope this helps. |

I agree that it can work.
But personally for me its extremely annoying. When your busy rushing around like a blue assed fly and someone keeps hassling you about printer ink it does get you down.
However, we do employ people solely for telemarketing purposes so there are swings and round abouts yes. |

Nobody ever said telesales was useless, just irritating. The Telephone and Fax Preference Services are doing bumper business too. |

Cold calling is always going to be a depressing occupation. The highs (The odd flicker of interest) seldom cancel out the lows (Rejection). The way forward is to provide a product for which there is a demand or, if it can be shown, is a need. You have turned the flicker into a fire-but for how long?. It's still a damned hard way to earn a crust. Good luck. |

annoying? try getting 11 per day while you're studying, sleeping or working. it's intrusive. advertise yes, but dont call us at home. businesses are a different kettle of fish but i get angry being phoned at home and being abused for saying no to someone who is trying to sell me something. end of story. |

people at work expect the phone to ring .so they're pleased to talk to you,try calling people at home who have just come home from work and put their feet up in front of the tv. |
