The BIG 3 Auto Industry, do you think if the vehicles cost less...they would sell?

The BIG 3 should come down on their prices of the vehicles, if a vehicle is 26,000 cut down the price to something that really makes since. Everything is so expensive in 2008. The price should be about $10,000-$12,000 less; not just $4,000-$5,000 less, that doesn't help the American buyers. The Automakers are trying to make too much PROFIT.

No its not the prices. People would pay more to get what they want. American cars are only being driven by die hard patriots for sentiments. American cars are already cheaper on the average. There is a need to capture new market namely immigrants, the youth, and build reliable cars compete with makers from Korea, Japan and Germany. I think the following are required

- Building Reliable cars
- Giving Extended warranties
- Improving Customer service
- Ensuring the customer base is not erroded, e.g. I see that New york taxi's are now using Toyota's ford has to try better to hold such a market
- They have to learn how to cut costs. You cant be everything to everyone. Cut out things that people dont need or put it upon request for a premium. American cars are overbuilt. For every possibility loaded with equipment that will never be used. Well Its time to have a rethink.

Thats true but did you know that the average pay for Ford,Chrysler and GM line workers is $77.00 per hour(thats only the average).Thats insane if you ask me.Not to mention what the CEO's make. They don't need a bailout, they need to take their heads out of their a**es.

Yes. If prices of the automobiles came down a little bit and they would do away with rebates. Just charge the amount for the options and the base vehicle. More people would be inclined to buy from the big 3. The Big 3 need to focus more on building a vehicle that sells itself and focus less on advertising. Build something that sells itself. I have a Chevrolet Truck and I have had better luck with than a japanese car.

Here's my experience with the Big 3.

Ford - I bought a 1979 Ford Fairmount brand new. The PAINT fell of the car. The choke stopped working and I had to open the hood every morning and manually set the choke to get the car started.

GM - I bought a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme brand new. The power widows stopped working. The dash fell off, the carpet came unglued plus the bolts for the brake calipers fell out. Then the transmission started leaking at 40,000 miles I traded it on a Toyota.
I hand to demand the Toyota dealership take the car or I wouldn't buy the Toyota.

Chrysler - I bought a 1997 Cirrus brand new. The two years that I had this car it spent more time at the dealership due to recalls and warranty work than in my garage. The timing chain broke at highway speeds and required a new top end replacement for the engine.

My experience with Toyota.
I bought a 1992 Toyota Truck. No recalls, no warranty work ever. This truck has never left be stranded.
I bought a 1999 Toyota Van. No recalls, no warranty work ever. This Van has never left be stranded.

The Big 3 could give their cars away I would rather walk.
