the banks are bleating again about having to make money
but is it just a case of the top men don't want to change their high flying life styles whilst the rest of us suffer with pay cuts and redundancy
to me if the business cant support the outgoing bill then the wage bill has to change accordingly and no bonuses
why should they still be getting the same as before they are too comfortable
what do you think Additional Details i dont doubt that bankers do work hard
so does a worker in tesco's working weekends and holidays
but they screwed up big time and still want to carry on as before a normal worker would be sacked one weeks wages and thats it no bonus or handshake for them!!!
I was amazed last week when the Government suggested the banks pass on the latest interest rate drop and the banks, who we have just bailed out, said the government shouldn't interfere with the way they do business.
They've got extremely short memories.

I agree with you.Everyone is feeling the pinch. My heart goes out to the people who are being laid off work.Have been there & my husband had to go abroad to work if he had not gone we would have been on the streets. That was in the Tory era & we got no help.

It's outrageous!
The Government bailed them out with billions of our money and still they moan and still they refuse to lend. The Gov was stupid not to attach conditions.
Also they have been quick enough to cut the rate on my savings account.

Amazing that they thing that the Government shouldnt interfere , except when they screwed up and needed bailing out.
What happens if someone is thrown out of work and they cant pay their mortgage, the banks foreclose fairly quickly.
One rule for them and one for everyone else

This is part of a bankers risks. They are responsible to their stakeholders. Everyone who is involved in the banking business. Their shareholders, government, customers, staff, the community etc. They take a lot of risks in order to make a profit and to stay employed also. They had to work very hard at the expense of having a quality family life. They make profits to pay their staff salaries, dividends to their shareholders and even to contribute charities to the public as a form of social responsibility. They deserved to be paid a good salary and bonus for their work and heavy responsibilities. Without those competent banker, banks can collapsed or need government's help.
