It got worse, some of my male colleagues got notes of attention and for me it was not public but my boss call me in private and told me he did not know what a cute girl like me was doing watching that stuff on the Internet and not working.
I feel so ashamed, what can I do, My boss is an old lawyer, nice guy, now he thinks I am a ninfo, and my plans of promotion may be over, should I quit, you think i can recover status? |

Now you have to work extra hard to make up for it, volunteer for stuff you normally wouldn't do, get in early, stay in later. It will take a little time, but if you care about your job and you think its worth saving then do your best to save your reputation by carving out a new one. |

You have learned what it means when you were told that all equipment is for "business use only". You are fortunate you were not fired. All your activity is tracked, including phone calls, faxes, pc, company e-mail read, etc. Did you apologize? No, you should not quit because at this point you probably would lose a reference. Pull yourself up and out of this. Be a model employee. This will pass. It will be awkward. If this were a fed job you would be fired, or depending upon the site and your actions in jail. You don't mention your category of work, but if it is a law office remember the confidentiality of clients and cases. This has been a good learning experience for you. The rules are the same at all companies. You will recover, work hard. |
