There are many signs when a company is going down. If they weren't having meetings before and now they have meetings all the time, that is one sign. Most of the time their meetings are a big waste of time too. They end up screwing things up more. Another sign that things are going bad is when the new managers that come in want to crack a whip and treat you like a high school kid instead of the professional type managers you've seen there in the past. They may do all kinds of weird BS, like say you can't leave until your work is done. I've had that happen to me and I just said hey, I 'm off and I have another job to go to, you can't hold me here. The last signs are when they want to alter the pay structure (switching over to commission for example), or when they start removing departments and when they start letting some supervisor's go. If you see most of these signs it's time to start looking elsewhere I'm afraid.
P.S. Other things to look for in sales, are when they start experimenting with different products that they never had before, when they go nuts about add on sales, and last when there's a service contract for everthing under the sun that a customer can buy. |

The fact they are constantly having meetings alone should rings alarm bells, and 'restructuring' can mean redundancies.
It's time to start looking around now, get a few things lined up especially as it's always easier to find employment when your working as opposed to being on the dole.
Be prepared to move quickly but that doesn't mean you have to, if they do managed to survive this difficult time and you've supported them (as opposed to jumping ship) then it really well do wonders on how they view you.
You were then when they needed you the most and that will remembered for years, suddenly your chance of promotion has doubled!
You could even mention to them that you will support them through this hard time, and although they've never mentioned things are bad, you can tell it's not right and that they can rely on you and/or your willing to help as much as possible if there's anything they want you do.
If nothing else it will get a you a bloody good reference when you move on.
I would suggest you get friendly with the secretaries in the office, see if there's any mention of bills not being paid, constant red letters and visit to the bank to stop them pulling the plug.
Also look for selling off of assetts such as the directors Jaguar being replaced by a Mondeo, anything on rental going back and Mmmm, let's just see how flash the christmas party is this year.
Lots of signs to look out for, you should be able to work it out well before that day when you turn up and the gates are locked. |

(ANS) If the writing or signs a writ large on the walls then I wouldn't trust what anyone else tells you. Believe your own judgment is what I would tell you from past experience.
i.e. if the ship has hit an ice burg and is taking in water but the captain says all is fine yet the ship is listing to one side at a scary angle who are you going to believe? your own senses or a load of lies from so called bosses.
**IMO sounds like this company has serious cash flow problems and dwindling order book and is about to cease trading in the very near future.
**I once worked for a web design company and found myself in a very similar situation and the company went out of business a few weeks later.
**Ask yourself this question honestly, do you think this company will still be in business in 6months or a years time?? trust your own answer here.
**You would be wise to start looking for a new job ASAP!! in my view.
