Those who dont like starbucks??
Ok so i have hear allot of bad things about starbucks, and i want to watch the documentary about it.
Does anyone know why starbucks is bad for development of the countries that the coffee is supplied from?? Additional Details I'm guessing none of you have seen the documentary Black gold??
Its all about starbucks exploiting its foreign suppliers!!
Well, they refused to hire me because I have experience as a Barista (professionally trained coffee/espresso engineer - think: "Wine Connoisseur").
Their way of doing business is like Wal-Mart... put one on every corner and stamp out the little privately owned businesses and make coffee shops the new "fast food" instead of the cool hang-outs and cultural centers that they used to be.
When was the last time you got to see original artwork on the walls at your local Starbucks?
How about hearing a local band on "open mic night"?
Say good bye to coffee shops as we know them... Starbucks is coming!
"Get your dang coffee and get out of our store!" should be their motto.
If you notice, a new Starbucks is always strategically placed within 2 blocks of an independantly owned coffee shop.
(Why do you think I had to go in and try to get hired at one?)

Starbucks is good for everyone involved. If they weren't they'd go out of business.

I would think it is because the coffee is purchased for so little. It gives little economic boost to the coffee producing countries. Personally I like Starbucks...every time I pass one it makes me smile to think that people are so dumb that they would pay that much for coffee. lol

The only thing wrong with ''Starbucks'' is the price.

Bad for development?
Starbucks created a market for premium coffee that didn't even exist before they came up with the concept of the coffee boutique. And what about the competitors that sprouted up because of Starbucks? Those countries are selling to Starbucks competitors as well.
Do some research as to what the countries coffee sales were before Starbucks came on the scene.
