Lindsay | Tips on how to sell more products in a retail store? |
I recently started working at a retail store mainly selling shoes. Not only am I required to reach a certain amount each shift, I am required to sell things along with the shoes on the side, such as shoe cleaning products, and insoles for the shoes.
If i don't meet these requirements, i will receive a writeup.
I need some better tips on how to casually promote these products to ppl so they don't automatically reject me as soon as i begin to mention them.
so far, for the insoles, i have tried to demonstrate its use by putting it in one of the shoes that the customer tries on and leave the other as is.
For the cleaning product, I have shown by cleaning the dirt off of their white shoe(if they are wearing one) or by cleaning it off of my own shoe. I have also tried to use the protector shoe spray on a piece of towel then spray it with water to show how useful it can be in the rain.
Any other tips on what to say to ppl and what I could possibly do?
Please help. I'm not doing so well at selling them. |

That sounds rough.
Suggestions for retail:
Don't be afraid to ask questions... find out of they have kids or if they go hiking or running and see if there is anything that requires another kind of shoe or takes place in the mud or rain. Don't ask questions that can be answered only by "yes" or "no" if you can help it. |
