thepastisinthepast | Vindictive Former Employer? |
My wife and I are "concerned" about what her former employer MIGHT be doing. She worked for a company of over 500 employees. She quit, without notice, because of the way they treated their employees. She also filed an EEOC complaint against them, which they found out about AFTER she left. Two nights ago, one of her former co-workers called her and wanted to know where she was working now. She thought nothing of it at the time but learned today that one of her former supervisors put this employee up to it. So our concern is how a supervisor at that company "used" another employee to try to locate where my wife now works. With an EECO complaint in the works, wouldn't you think they would have the sense to fly a little more under the radar than that? |

I am surprised at the gall of the former employer. I'd call them up immediately and ask them flat out why they put the employee up to this. They'll deny it or make soemthing up, but it puts them on notice a bit. Then just see what happens, if anything. Hopefully noting will come of this.
Some other things you could do if you really want to play hardball is call up other former employees and have them put in EEOC complaints, if they are willing. I guess you could even call the former boss and insinuate that she felt sexually harassed while she was there and that if they do anything vindictive she will put in a complaint on that (though I wouldn't actually do this). With that hanging over them they will think long and hard before doing anything vindictive. |

Record everything. Check out the laws in your state about recording someone when they call you on your home phone. You might even consult a lawyer about this. If your wife had some legitimate problems then maybe she can get a former co-worker to be a witness to her plight. Good luck. |

it's none of their business who she is working for now and just sit back and see if they try to cause any problems for her in her new job and if they do just let it ride and let them hang themselfs corprate america has an additude that they are untouchable and that they can do what they want to too employees. so let them do what they want and then file against them |

So, really what is your question? Other than being more prudent with the information you give out and contact with former co-workers there isn't much to be said.
You can only control your actions not theirs. |
