Do you think that Wal-mart's business practices such as its pathetic insurance plans, importing nearly everything they sell from China , ruining small business with cut throat tactics etc. is wrong or just a result of a free market at work in a capitalist nation. your thoughts please.

I disagree with you on one thing there Jordan. I dont belive that people are saving SOOOO much money that they are able to get by because of it. if you are that bad off, then you dont need WM you need a better job. I just dont think its the common reason one goes to WM. |

they are not violating a single law or regulation. If employees there think that the health benefits are not good enough then they should leave and go find another job. Nobody is telling them they have to work there, they choose to work there. Importing stuff from other countries has been going on for years, now that Walmart does it people start yelling and screaming about it?
If you don't like the store or its policies, go to another store. Thats what is so great about this country, you have the right to choose. You don't think Target imports from other countries? |

I've worked there for several years ( need money to buy food during school), and althought their motto is 'respect for the individual' ; they are very unfair. Especially inside the store between associates, management, etc.
All they care about is profits. If you stay behind for an in-store meeting, or come into the store early enough, you'll see! |

Although Wal-Mart does a lot wrong, it is just the free market at work. What everyone does not realize, is the hundreds of thousands of people who make ends meet because they shop at Wal-Mart. To do this, Wal-Mart has to import products (where they are made the cheapest) and pay low wages. |

Walmart sells what people want to buy.
If you want (or you must) buy cheap stuff, you can't complain if there aren't english speaking clerks at walmart and products are made in china or whereever workers cost almost nothing. |
