Wal-Mart a monopoly? YES!!!!!!?
Come on people i am asking this question because someone told me they were not. You have to be kidding me!! If Wal-Mart is not a monopoly i don't know what is. No one can compete with them, they were the only company in the first quater to make a profit, ever since Clinton signed that trade agreement with China wal-mart has been smiling with profits. Do you think Wal-Mart is a monopoly??
Additional Details
Whatever yall wont think that when wal-mart owns everything in this world!! and they will just watch.. noone can compete with wal-mart, hell they have enough money to buy out target right now..

Not even close.

Everything they sell can be purchased through thousands of competitors.

(All you have to do to compete is offer higher quality, wholesale prices or develop supply chain management like they did. Costco and Kmart compete very well.)

No, it's not. Just about everything for sale at Wal-Mart can be bought at other stores. If they had exclusive selling control over the items in their store (meaning you would have to go to Wal-Mart to get those items and no where else) it would be a monopoly. They're big, their trade practices are unfair, and many people hate them, but it's all legal if only barely so.

It's big. I'll give you that. But its not a monopoly.

If most people go to Wal-Mart to buy their stuff, when the same stuff can be bought elsewhere, is that Wal-Mart's monopolistic behavior? It's not, rather it's a competition. If Wal-Mart can sell AXE deodorant at $3.27 when other retail stores can't go below $4.99, then its their incompetence, not Wal-Mart's monopoly.

Guess what, recession is even better for Wal-Mart, more people go there to save money, which increases their revenue.

No. You can buy the same products they have at other stores.

Target is a rival of Wal-Mart, though smaller and not as succesful, they're big enough to declassify Wal-mart as a monopoly and offer some competition.

Yes, the Greenberg film on Walmart is depressing.
I don't shop there for whatever that's worth.

I agree with the first answer. They might be huge, but that doesn't mean they're a monopoly.

Yes, they're a total monopoly. That's why stores like target, K-mart, Shopko, and your neighborhood grocery store are still in business. You obviously have no clue what a monopoly is, nor do you know what you're talking about.
