I'm glad there are others. I get the fact that it's cheaper for struggling families and all that, but I refuse to shop there. They put American businesses out of business. They might give Americans some jobs, but they are not good jobs. And in the long run, all we are doing is putting China back on the map as far as an industry leader, an industry that supports inhumane labor. |

i used to work there was a CSM. got very sick and couldnt work there anymore and quit. they were so mean about me being sick and they never handled my harrassment problem which is the actuall reason why I quite. all they did was ask me quetions and get me into signing and so forth but never did anything. dont even get me on the unions that they want to keep out so badly. ppl are kinda forced to shop there bc of money no one really wants to shop there. have you seen the movie? it's good. so very true. i try to shop at other places. i hate the store. |

Even the legal system is corrupt, just like the various stores that you shop.
If UR going to cut any stores out, then you should cut them all out & you will be high & dry.
I must say, I do not shop wal-marts that often anymore.

Us older people all complained when Wal0Mart was coming to our town. WE KNEW IT WOULD REALLY HURT OUR SMALL FAMILY RETAIL STORES. But, we let them come anyway. Our downtown square is almost empty now....but, we still shop there! People are weird. Ozzie's brain |

Many people still continue to shop there because regardless of how many times it's been on the news, people that shop there don't work there so they don't exactly know whats going on to the employees. Even if many people realize that it's a department store and it has advertisements on television and not to mention low costs on their products. It's a place to shop and it has many customers. Then there's people like me and you. Yes, walmart might do some cruel stuff but many people just don't care at all. there not against it and there not for it either. They don't shop there unless they absolutley have to. I hope this answered your question. |

I love Wal Mart. The article is about Wal Mart, but states that many companies are doing this. Sorry for her, but I can agree that she shouldn't be compensated twice for one bill. Would you want to pay twice? Maybe her lawyer should have sued for damages, not medical bills that were already paid. |

As someone who worked for a health insurance company in the past, I can tell you that every health insurance company in the nation recoups money it pays for medical care related to an auto accident. The person who is found liable for the auto accident is supposed to pay for those health care expenses, which is why they do it. It sounds to me like these people got bad legal advice. If she had already paid almost half a million in medical expenses, they shouldn't have accepted 700,000 as a settlement. They only got 200,000 toward the care she's going to need for the rest of her life. The reason Walmart is recouping the money here instead of a healthcare company is because Walmart is apparently a self-insured company which means they pay their own health care expenses rather than having an insurance company pay. They have something called re-insurance which covers them should their annual expenses exceed what they bargained for. I don't know what other issues you have with Walmart, but this shouldn't be one of them because they are just doing what ever other self-insured company would do and does and what every health insurance company does thousands of times a day, from the smallest fender bender to the biggest cataclysmic traffic accident. |
