Wal-mart employees?

blah-blah-blah I'm so sick and tired of hearing crap about Wal-Mart. If Walmart is so bad then " STOP SHOPPING THERE"!!!!
If you are so much better than the Walmart employees, then get a job at Walmart and Change it. Remember Sam started with just 1 store. ps If there was a K-mart or Target in my town I would shop there, but theres not and I dont work for Walmart either.

Walmart's practices are pretty standard for the entire retail industry.

Retail is NOT a 9-5 Monday-Friday job. Since customers have demanded 24 hour stores, these companies must find employees willing to work the evenings, nights, and weekends. The employees who only want to work traditional work hours do not fit what the company needs and may be scheduled for fewer hours. This is simple management: you schedule your employees to match your customer flow. It doesn't make sense to have 15 cashiers standing around doing nothing during the day on Monday and only 4 scheduled on a Saturday when there are 3 times as many customers.

I have been a retail manager for a mom and pop store, a publicly owned big box chain, and a publicly traded big box chain. The pay was about the same for all of them. We were instructed to staff our stores with 70% part time and 30% full time employees. The management staff counted towards the 30% full time so we were only able to hire one or two associates as full time employees.

Only full time employees were eligible for benefits at the companies I worked for. It cost me about $50 per paycheck for the insurance and the coverage wasn't even that good. The fact is that insurance premiums have gone up across the board. A $50/paycheck bite is much easier for a higher paid worker to swallow but that doesn't make covering low wage earners any cheaper for the company. Is their argument that since they don't make very much, the company owes them free health insurance?

The stores I worked for paid their associates between $6.50 and $8.50/hour. As a manager, I was averaging less then $13 an hour. At one point, I applied for a part time job to make some extra money. I had been a store manager for a cd chain that had gone bankrupt. Their competition was looking for a part time assistant manager. They made me a job offer almost immediately: $6.75/hour. This was a position where I would have had keys to the store, been responsible for the daily cash deposit, and been the manager on duty. I have NO doubt that WalMart pays better than most of the retail stores in the mall. A retail clerk does not require a whole lot of specialized skills. This is reflected in the pay rate. If you want to make more money, bite the bullet and put yourself through college.

I agree with you 100% . people will yell and say they will not shop walmart again. this same person is in the store the next day. GET A LIFE! PEOPLE. Don't get so strung out over something so trivial.

I agree... Walmart became BIG because of it's customers. So all the complaining should either stop or those bltching should change walmart.

Sam died and Walmart changed. I used to shop there alot, but I have cut back. I went from spending $200 to spending $50 for animal food only. Why? Because of the horrible way they treat their employees. They put in a bunch of TV sets that no one looks at and denied Any raises or bonuses to the employees at the local store. They try to keep[ em[loyees at a very low wage and under hours for full time so they don't have to pay benefits oar insurance. I don't want to support that.

Walamart doesn't treat their employees any worse than any other employer who hires unskilled laborers

Will people help Max Rafael Waller? A retired LAPD Officer,Pete Weinhold, tried to save his private security with Wal-Mart and began an inquiry with the Los Angeles Police and San Fernando Police Departments. Management are trying to find legal methods for his termination or voluntary resignation. If management can get enough signatures he can be fired for being Abusive, Hostile, and/or Endangering their safety,creating a Hostile Work Environment. Persons in low level management and non-management supervisors feel that the 2 Club Managers have made their work place into a Hostile Work Environment ONLY to Non-Sycophants!

Wal -Mart is the largest employer in the world!! They are very charitable!!! They pay above minimum wage!! I believe they are a terrific Company!!! They deserve recognition not condemnation!!!!
