I've seen it and it is pretty disturbing. Most of the stuff in Wal-Mart is cheap Chinese garbage, so I won't shop there any more just for that reason. The last time I bought a coffeemaker which promptly fell apart and I decided my time was worth more than the hours spent taking the crap back and standing in the returns line forever.
There is a new Wal-Mart that opened up about 8 miles from me and I am considering making up a whole lot of small signs that say "Made in China by Forced Slave Labor" and putting these things all over the store.
I hate that place with a passion. |

i drive a truck for a living. i have been subcontracted out to walmart numerous times, pulling walmart trailers.. One of the first things they give you when you show up is a vendor list with directions to each place. vendors on the list are companies that supply Walmart with things to put on their shelves. American companies. This list has HUNDREDS of companies on it.
When I'm doing my normal job, driving for the company i work for, I pick up from THOUSANDS of places all over the country and take the stuff to Walmart, target, k-mart and many other retail and grocery chains. Walmart is good at what they do. The only difference between them and any other company is they do things efficiently.
That being said, I don't think trading with China is a bad idea in the long run. They are becoming more and more modern everyday, their standard of living is raising closer and closer to ours. That's not a bad deal. It means a bigger market for our products, and a peaceful and friendly co-existence. I feel safer with China being a friend rather than an enemy. |
