Was this customer being rude to me?
Was this customer being rude to me?

Today at work while I was helping a customer finding something another customer asked where the lightbulbs were and I've told her that I would be with her when I'm done helping the other customer out and unfortunately she took it the wrong way and decided to leave and go somewhere else, then I've offered to help the customer find the lightbulbs and she had the nerve to tell me that I should be ashamed of myself for what I did and that she drove across town to get here, she also had the nerve to tell me that our store should be ashamed with themselves for remodeling our store and that she was having a hard time finding items.

I was being kind and professional towards this customer.

Of course they were.

Yes, they are a customer and are important, but another person who was there first should take priority - they have, after all, been waiting longer. And wandering off is just plain rude - after interrupting you, they could at least wait for what they wanted in the first place.

Your then going to find her when she'd wandered off was extremely polite and professional - you'd remembered her, and gone back and offered to help her, and then she hurled abuse at you.

And the notion that rearranging the store is something the store should be ashamed of because it makes her difficult to find items is farcical - she is living in a very odd world if she doesn't acknowledge this as something that will naturally happen in shops.

There is of course a solution to this: don't go back to help them afterwards. There's no need to, and they can't complain if you don't - after all, they left you first.

Just rest in the knowledge that you are one of the people who is part of the gradually decreasing group of people who still have manners, and that they are not.

yes, that costumer was being rude, she should know better than to interupt you when you are talking to someone else. i hate people like that.

The person could have had a bad day and unfortunately took it out on you. You have no idea what was going on with that person. I got a little conused with what happened, but if you were helping a customer when the second customer came up looking for lightbulbs, than you are right to finish helping hte first customer before moving onto the second customer looking for lightbulbs. However, the second customer may have just wanted you to give a aisle number and got frustrated they had to wait. You did nothing wrong and I think they just had a bad day.

Keep up the Customer Service!

when you work with people, you get to meet the dumb ones too. She was wrong, you were right. You shouldn't even care enough to post this question. You were perfectly polite, and leaving the first customer would have been rude. It's not your fault she drove across town to get something as common as light bulbs, and it's not your fault she was too dumb to read the signs on top of the isles. Just forget about it and enjoy your evening:)

who cares
sometimes people aren't in their best days she probably wasn't in hers I think she was being rude but it really depends on the situation did you let her wait a long time?

Probably you answered with temper, or it sounded that your nervous.
Thats why she took it the wrong way, And if i was a customer and i feel a tone of anger in the voice of an employee i would do the exact same thing.....
