Mike V | What's The Best Way To Save The 3,000 Jobs At Risk At Hershey's Chocolate? |
On February 15th, the Hershey Company announced that they would be laying off workers, scaling back production lines, and moving some manufacturing to Mexico. Employees were told that as many as 3,000 people would be losing their jobs! Perhaps the biggest tragedy is that Hershey Company would be abandoning the legacy of their founder, the great Milton S. Hershey. Milton Hershey built a successful business on the principles of hard work, ethical business practices, and the idea that a company's greatest resource was its employees. Even during the Great Depression, instead of laying off workers, Milton Hershey found building projects to put people to work at.
We want to save the 3,000 jobs at risk! How can we do it? We have a petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/kissesforhershey/ and we'll send a kiss to Hershey's CEO for every person who signs it. There is more information at http://www.kissesforhershey.com
What else can we do? Hurry, we need help soon! |

It is sad that jobs have to be lost in order to keep the high company management employed. It is ridiculous what the CEO earns in a year, not counting what he got just for signing on with the company. Also some of the plants have employees that do not want to work. A few years ago salaried people were bought out to bring in one person for less money to do the job of 3 or 4 higher paid. The new supervisors that were hired do not have any management skills and do not know how to get the employees to run the lines. Production has gone down greatly in the past few years. Maybe with weeding out up to 3,000 positions nationwide, they will be able to get rid of the ones that want the pay, but do not want to work for it. If they are left with good crews, production and quality should go up. If production increases, they may be more positions opening up further on down the line. It is sad that such a great company is so mismanaged |

Its too late to save the 500 jobs up here in Smith's Falls Ontario. They announced today that the plant will be closed totally some time in 2008. Its just another way the corporations are sticking it to the unions and the small towns all over the United States and Canada. More and more jobs are being moved out of our countries and more and more immigrants are coming over here.If they just waited the jobs will all be over there soon and they will have no reason to come over here at all. |

make them realize, that they need to keep production in the the U.S.for the simple fact, they might save a lot of money at first ,but they don`t realize that people like me will not ever buy any of their products.it is about time for these money hungry people to realize, that they are destroying the American economy.i have lost the job i loved due to this stupitity. |

If they could get some recipes and ingredients for half descent chocolate and stop selling that Orwellian sweetly brownish cardboard stuff they could maybe develop export markets; no market is captive or unsophisticated enough to eat that stuff indefinitely. |

I think that this is a direct result of George W Bush Adminstration plan.... He said to President Vicente Fox, 6 Months before Sept 11 and 6 months after his inaugration, that his "fundamental goal" was to globalize the western hemisphere. It was a big deal- all over CNN- then Sept 11 happened and I havnt heard of talks again about it- only actions. |
