The soap will be the translucent kind and I want it to convey the kind of cleanliness of course in the kitchen. It sounds like a no-brainer but it's a good discussion for product concept.

This could depends on the strategy on the manufacturer. For example, some manufactueres put the lemon flavour into the dsihwashing liquip, so the colour they use are yellow. As my own preference, I more to an environmental lover, any chemical that change the colour at the same time damage the environment I would not welcome. I prefer leave it at the original colour when the time the manufacturer come out with the product as long as the product can clean the dishes. Quality is important. |

Your most likely consumer would be a woman so I think the color should be eye catching and have a light fruity scent. I would be most attracted to the color yellow or teal or something glittery. |

I would avoid clear. Reason being that if there is any amount of impurity at all, it will show up. Use blue or green. |

In the US, it is definitely light blue like Dawn and for windows, Windex and myriad copycats. Although other colors are available these are always the biggest sellers. (Yellow for Joy and lemon scents, Green for apple, Purple for lavender, Pink for roses, White for Ivory Liquid, Clear for herbal/health store liquids)
Unless you are marketing a specialty brand like Ecover in the US which is non-animal tested, ecological, and sold in a clear bottle with a leaf design, blue is your key to higher sales.
There may a biological reason for this, since most people like blue as their favorite color but are hard-wired to avoid blue food in nature.
Small children may be more apt to drink a lemon or rose colored detergent than a blue one since they think it is soda. The purple Fabuloso liquid cleaner in the US sold in a clear, soda bottle now has a child proof cap for that very reason. Avoid that type of bottle, Colgate-Palmolive did not and had problems as a result with non-English speaking customers and small children. England has many immigrants who also may not speak English as their first language but would use your products. |

Anytime I need help like this, I ask my local grocery store manager to find out what color sells best.
Usually these guys started as stock boys many many years ago, and have LOTS of experience with stocking, ordering, and selling things.
