What Wal-Mart is doing, is this legal?
Has this ever happen to anyone?
I bought a camcorder from Wal-Mart because when I compared it online with other camcorder it was the best price deal. I didn’t realized that the price I paid at the store was higher then the price on it’s company website.
When I called to ask them if they would refund me the difference they told me that they don’t price match with other Wal-Mart or it’s own website. Does this make sense to anyone and is this even legally correct? If they are the same corporation why can’t they refund me back the difference and the reason why I can’t return it is because I bought it the same day I needed (it’s used and open, no refund on electronic?).

What I would do I order the other camcorder, then take your old one, put it in the new ones box and packaging, and use your old receipt and take it back to the store, and get your original payment back.

But Yeah, I think its legal.

Unfortunately it is legal. Lots of companies, including Future Shop, also have web only prices that do not apply in store..

I assume Walmart is like Harvey Norman or something, an electrical store...

It's perfectly legal. There is no law against setting your prices anyway you want and no company, including Walmart, is obligated to price match anyone else (even other Walmarts).

They may be the same corporation but a different company or group of people might operate that Walmart and they get to call it a Walmart by paying a fee to the corporation. They would be required to do certain things by head office (not use non-Walmart colours and not change the logo etc) but they can set prices anyway they like.

In Australia you wouldn't be entitled to a refund just because it was more expensive than you thought, I don't know what they law is on refunds in the US.

YES they are correct Walmart stores are a completely different coor. from walmart.com they are not associated in anyway other than their products.

Many companies play this pricing game. Call the store. Check the prices. Confirm Confirm Confirm.

Do yourself a favor...

Don't shop at Walmart. Period.
Unfortunately, I have had to walk into one with others a few times, but I haven't spent money in one in two years and don't intend to.

I work at Office Depot and we do the same thing. It has to do with shipping, handling, and stocking fees. Just check wikipedia about economics.

I know that most chains will not price match with their own websites. But, you should be able to return the item with a justifiable reason (don't mention price in this case). Call customer service ahead of time and ask and then bring it in right away.

This is not good. It does'nt make sense to me. For an organised company like Wal-mart with a good record of business success, this is not going to do its corporate image any good. If you feel agrieved, I suggest you seek advice from an attorney. Good luck.
