blindfury4 | What are the 5 ethical responsibilities of the oil industries? |
|
|

A trick question as well as a specious syllogism.
Ethics are not the same as laws. No corporation, operating in a free and open-market, is obliged to adhere to a set ethics. However, they must abide by laws of the sovereign countries (which are often codified and enforced ethics) in which the operate. One other point, they must adhere to the law of economics which mandate that they make a profit or else they will not remain in existence. |

Oil Companies are supposed to make money for you and me (I asume you are a shareholder too) and the rest of their millions of shareholders all over the World.
Oil Companies are not supposed to save the Dolphins, save the Ozone Layer, Keep the World Cold, save the slaves in Sierra Leone, arrest Illegal Mexicans, arrest drug dealers, improve education or reduce the costs of health care.
Oil Companies just sell Oil. That's it! |

They have ethics? How much do those executives make? |

For the record they have the highest recorded profit of any company in U.S. history. So they make allot more than other company's. Secondly I would say their ethic's are Neill none. They look out for themselves and do their best to keep us at their mercy. The Technology is their as well as the ability to GREATLY reduce our need for Oil but They have enough money to keep that from happening.Their has been several pattens bought by the oil company's and never used.Farming 6% of the continental U.S. acreage with biomass crops would provide all of America's energy needs Hemp is Earth's number-one biomass resource; it is capable of producing 10 tons per acre in four months. 1
Biomass can be converted to methane, methanol, or gasoline at a cost comparable to petroleum, and hemp is much better for the environment. Pyrolysis (charcoalizing), or biochemical composting are two methods of turning hemp into fuel.2
Hemp can produce 10 times more methanol than corn.
Hemp fuel burns clean. Petroleum causes acid rain due to sulfur pollution.
The use of hemp fuel does not contribute to global warming.
And Industrial Hemp will not get you high you can smoke a ton of it and get no more than a head ache and a bad cough. So it is safe... |

Sorry - the terms "ethics" and "oil industry" don't belong in the same sentence unless "ethics" is immediately preceded by "lack of". |
