Depends on the station - in most cases involving sale of other non-automotive goods (cigarets, candy, beer) there will be some kind of stocking of shelves and helping customers find things. Some stores really do limit cashiers to handling cash and pulling the small restricted access things like cigarets, others have broader requirements. When I worked in a gas "station/store", but on the night shift, I did no stocking but did have to straighten up misplaced stock and clean somewhat. |

When I was younger, I worked at a Circle K. I worked the overnight shift, so my duties were a lot different than the day shift. Overnight usually has a lot of time where there weren't any customers so I had many different duties. Some of the duties included were: Cigarette Inventory, stocking the cooler and shelves, lots of cleaning, display work and even sticking the gas tanks. (Using an enormous wooden pole, I'd dunk it into the ground tanks to measure how much gas was left so they could order the next day.)
I would ask the manager of the station what is expected. |

You collect money and sell cigarettes (and lighters, on occasion), and probably that 'no-doze' crap...but that's about it. |
