What are the hours for a 37.5 hour work week?
I thought for salaries employees it meant 9am - 4:30pm M-F (7.5 * 5 = 37.5), and that only hourly had to work 7.5 working hours plus a 1 hour unpaid lunch M-F (so like 8:30 - 5, or 9 - 5:30, etc).

Anyone know which it is?
Additional Details
The real question I'm asking is, for salary employees do they work 7.5 consecutive hours and that is the 7.5, or do they have to work 8.5 hours since 37.5 counts as a 1 hour unpaid lunch?

That actually depends on the employer's work policy. But usually, for salaried employees, if they are scheduled to work 37.5 hours a week, the 37.5 does not include lunch time. So for example, someone who works 37.5 hours a week, would come in to work from 9 am to 5:30 pm and have an hour off for lunch. Salaried employees do not get paid while they are on lunch. Nobody gets paid for lunch, hourly employee or not, and if they do, then they should consider themselves VERY lucky.

it could be any depending on the employer, they get to chose the work hours. most likely it's 8:30-5:00 or 9:00-5:30 with a half hour lunch.

It really depends on the job hours, not all job hours are the same. nor the pay.

Doctor Deth
probably 9-5 with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break

Robin the Electrocuted
Huh? 37.5 hours refers to the number of hours worked so if you take a 1 hour lunch then you effectively have to be 'at' work for 8.5 hours so yeah 9 - 5:30 for example.
