nonsense you lot, you're talking rubbish and you know it. Customer service isn't going downhill. just the store's your going to are very poor. The cause of rubbish staff yawning and talking on mobile phones is always the store manager. If you've got a good store manager who installs discipline in the team, then you wont have shops opening late etc... However if the manager is total rubbish then yes, everything declines from staff service to store cleanliness. The manager in a store is the leader, the store operates at the standard of the manager. |

Because the workers expect to much from the company. This is the type of job we should ship overseas so we can re train the people and have them get higher paying jobs. |

There seems to be more customers than employees in stores that I've seen lately, and the service is horrible.I've complained and nothing was ever done, they don't care, they just say thank you for your input. You see a line of about 5 or more people and one person working the counter, and another one just walking around (because what the person behind the counter is doing is not the other persons job) Being underpaid, overworked, talked down to because the person doesnt' have an education working in that field. I see people coming in to open a business right when the doors for business are supposed to be open (so they have to set up, and turn things on so you wait for about 10-15 minutes before you can get what you need. I've seen businesses open 15 minutes late, I see employees on their cell phones. I hear them cussing, and talking about others. Then they look at you like it's your fault for coming to the store when it first opens. Oh it's horrible, but what are you going to do? |

A lot of it has to do with the management in the store. I used to work for one of the major retailers as an HR manager. We weren't allowed to pay a ton of money, but we still had good retention, and most of our associates did a good job. The ones that didn't do a good job didn't last.
I second the person who said it's the store management. It absolutely is. The same store across town had major issues. Same job market, but the management was terrible. It all starts at the top and works its way down. |
