What are your perceptions and opinions of the supermarket Aldi?
What do you like? What do you dislike?

What could be improved overall?

What would make you stop shopping at ASDA/Tesco/Sainsbury's/Morrison's and change to Aldi?

I like everything about it, with regards to paying for carrier bags, I don't mind and it's something that the other supermarkets will introduce, partly for environmental reasons and partly because it will make them more money. (Ikea tried it and found that 90% less bags were used when people had to pay for them, now it's normal practice in all Ikea stores).

The absolute best thing is the price. It is miles cheaper than any other supermarket.

And with regards to those who commented it was too downmarket, or pikey, I suggest you visit an Aldi store, as they have lots of really nice products that are as good quality (in some cases) as marks and spencer. The stores are far nicer to shop in than Lidl, the staff seem a lot nicer and none of the products have German packaging like you get in Lidl, it's much more upmarket.
People who don't shop there because they think it is too downmarket are making fools of themselves, paying more money to the likes of Tesco for the same products, where you can get great quality in Aldi and save yourself a fortune.

They are very cost effectively run and that is one of the reasons that they can offer ,in some instances, better prices than their competitors. Although, this is at the expense of the limited selections of products. Most of their products are imported and they do not have a very good selection of brand names which you can find in other supermarkets. Nevertheless, they are excellent value for money if you are not fussy about the brand names.

I lived in Paducah, KY during my high school years, and Aldi was my mother's favorite grocery store. I now live in Pocatello, Idaho. There is not an Aldi Supermarket here, but if there was I would definitely shop there. They had a good selection of self-stable goods and very reasonable prices. Do to the fact that you were asked to bag your own groceries, I think that there should have been a more welcoming/customer friendly area to pack-up your items.

my ex-girlfriend's mother used to shop there, and some of the produce is alright really!

prefer Lidl`s they have great tasting green olives stuffed with feta!

It's the old stack-it-high, sell-it-cheap philosophy. A bit like a downmarket Asda if that's possible. Like Lidl and Netto, a pikey supermarket.

I shop at Asda or Tesco. Sainsbury's and their love-affair with Wanker Jamie Oliver puts me straight off on general principle. If they weren'tpaying silly money to that prat, they may be able to lower their prices a touch.

Lidl, Netto, Aldi, Morrison all a bit too grubby and downmarket for me.

i didnt like having to pay for a carrier bag when i went there. never been back.

as far as the food goes, a lot of the budget food is made by the same companies that make branded food. ill stick to tesco online for my food shopping.
