Affirmative Action is a huge load of bull.
It is nothing more than reverse discrimination.
I am an African-American woman who has worked hard to earn both a Masters and PhD. I didn't get into school by sitting on my duff and having some special government mandate do it for me.
I didn't get my job by slacking off and just waiting for some special hand out because of my color.
If you ask me affirmative action just made the lazy lazier and took away opportunities from those that were trully deserving. |

It is reverse discrimination. After all, giving someone a job because of their race is wrong. The problem here is the liberals who support it do not understand the problem.
1. They think that all problems must be solved by government
2. Instead of giving someone preference because of race, teach them how to earn it in the free market system.
3. It is nothing more than welfare. It is giving a hand me out without fixing the problem
4. It perpetuates the victim mentality that blacks are discriminated against 60 years ago. AA gives preference to someone who has not directly received the discrimination. |

affirmative action is very helpful. unfortunately, even in 2006 there is still a lot of racism. affirmative action allows well qualified persons to get a job that they may not have gotten because of there race. a big misunderstanding is, that affirmative action guarantees a job. it doesn't you still have to be qualified. it also helps with universities |

based on merit earned and financial needs. As a minority myself, I dont want to get in somewhere when I am not qualified and the only thing that got me in was my skin color. If i had the mental capacity but lacked the finance, than sure, i'll take up the offer. |

I love it. Had it not been for it, I'd been bullied, and harassed to the moment I lost my job.
I worked too hard getting an education, and took me 10 years to get my job, a dream job. I refused to lose it because a racist was picking on me. Had it not been for AA, I would not have been able to get the rewards for all I worked so hard for, and I'd be among the stereotyped minorities. Thanks to AA, I am an educated, professional, single parent, and Hispanic minority in a professional field, not welfare. |
