What business field would work best for me?
I need help. I am a senior in high school and I am going to attend college this fall. I need help deciding my major. I know I want to go into business. I'm stuck between marketing, finance and accounting. I have always imagined working in a large sky scarper building, dressed in business attire, traveling, speaking at meeting and possibly traveling. Help me please. Give me details on each.
I graduated college last year with a degree in accounting. i would highly recommend it. it really offers the most career opportunities. if you look at any of the lists out right now about jobs that still hire in the crappy economy accountants are like number 3. every company in the world needs an accountant. there are so many places you can work. but i have some friends who took business and finance and they arent as fortunate. there are far less jobs because most general business jobs are manager positions for people like our parents. and most finance jobs also hire accounting graduates. plus it's not any harder than any other majors :)

Don't worry you don't need to decide your concentration (marketing, finance, accounting etc.) yet. All you have to do is apply for a Business major (BBA, Bcom etc.) for now and later on in college (usually around 3rd yr) you will choose what you want to major in. I am a 2nd yr business student and i still don't know exactly what i will major in. As you take courses and experience all the separate fields of business your decision will become more clear. =) Also from your description of your desired worklife, you would be most suited to a managerial position, which can be possible through almost any business field if you are ambitious and hardworking, but marketing would suit you well.

Accounting will open you up to more opportunities than the other two majors and can actually lead to jobs in the other two fields as well.
But.....it also takes more hard work and dedication than finance or marketing.
