What do businesses do with product that doesn't sell?
dealerships (07 modles)
retail stores (clothes, hand bags ect...)
Bestbuy ( TV's, and other big ticket items)

and other stores

...just throw them away?

Matthew O
Sell them to clearance dealers, closeout specialists, etc.
Of course, in the end if something never sells at all, it's scrapped or trashed.

No! They'll do many things from severely discounting them, discontinuing them, advertising them, or if it comes down to it, depending on what it is, they'll just give it away.

Yahzmin (US)
Not sure about cars, but the other things go to the OUTLET stores, to the SURPLUS stores, to the CLOSEOUT stores, etc. Places like Value City and other deep discount sites.

Blueyed Surfer
First, discounting the price.
Then, liquidation. That's when they sell it for what they paid for it, just to recover the cost.

You can go to Liquidators.com to see companies who practically give away their old inventory to people who will turn it around and sell it for cheap on eBay or something like that.

Depends on the store, the product and their tax status. It is often 'given' to help the poor and needy, for a tax deduction to help them of course.

No they sell them cheap to outlet stores to sell at a discounted price.

They will sometimes reduce the price and sell the produce to a company which alot of stores do and then if people are looking for cheap clothes etc they know where to go!

Ruphus B Tripehound
sell it cheap to car booters and market traders

LIPPIE
They will mark down the prices and try to sell. Some ship back to venders, and then they get sold to discount houses. While some of the merchandise hangs around, and it is sometmes two to three years old, on the shelfs.

Napalm84
They begin discounting the items such as 25% off. Noone in the right mind would throw away a good piece of equipment or a car... But when it comes to food and other perishables then they are being disposed of the ol' fashioned way.

Ed Vader
they sell it at really low prices, a very good bargain, and if not they sell it to other stores that will resell them

Why don't it sell? Is it good? If it is and it is not selling then give it to Charity
