What do the die hard Yahoo faithful think of Bill Gates & Microsoft's offer to buy Yahoo for $42 billion?
It's a very lucrative offer to Yahoo's shareholders, and it would give Microsoft and Yahoo a better chance at rival Google. Do you think it will better enhance both Yahoo & Microsoft>
This is a big pill for Microsoft to swallow. I am not sure this will give Microsoft what they want unless they improve it and enhance yahoo to pick up things that Google does better.
The combination of two large companies like this can be problematic for integration of philosophies and other areas of management and controls. Any positive future would indeed require a truly innovative strategy to dodge the heavy cumbersome weight of trying to manage these to large companies as one. Maybe cutting some fat was part of the objective to fatten profits? What ever Bill Gates has up his sleeve you hope its sensational because these two companies together could really have an awful lot of hurdles to make it successful. I am confident the acquisition was more then just about market share. These tech guys must have some greater design for this then just adding more to the pile. Microsoft definitely will be poised to create some new things with this merger if it takes place which remains to be seen.

that is a decent offer

They need each other. It's a great marriage.
Good question.

well the hard numbers don't lie, think that the marriage can happen only if MS wears the pants. i can see functionality decreasing as a browser/OS based company tries to create a universe where innovation by Y! can only happen there.
if yahoo wants to sell out (tho some call it a merger) ....ha......then they should. because it seems like they are giving up.
rather i see a more altruistic company with plenty of innovation...here is a merger idea: ureach; canonical/ubuntu; opera, ........you get the picture. one can be lean by incorporating the power of others
there is so much new things to be invented and they behave like they missed the boat. but there is another waiting.
yahoo people should go to the beach this weekend and take a deep breath at the last employee picnic.......just kidding.
adsorption (not absorption as what is stated today) is what will happen.

I hope they do!
This place won't let you say what you want to!
U-Tube is better.....

Nothing personal, it's just business. As far as enhancement, both already offer a top notch product... Lincoln or Cadillac? Both are nice, I would buy either, like wise with viewing MSN, Yahoo or Google, I use all three.
My home page is YAHOO and at least for now, I'm sticking with YAHOO as my home page.
